1. Storage: The two ends of the newly purchased power cable are sealed with plastic glands, but after a period of use, the rest are wrapped with plastic paper and tied with ropes. The sealing is not good. As time goes by, water vapor will seep into the cable.
2. During cable laying: during cable laying, the cable head wrapped with plastic paper will sometimes be immersed in water to make water enter the cable; When pulling and threading, the outer sheath sometimes breaks.
3. After laying: the cable head is not made in time, so that the cable port without sealing treatment is exposed to the air for a long time, or even immersed in water, so that a large amount of water vapor enters the cable.
Now that we know the cause of cable water ingress, are there any rescue measures? At present, as far as I know, there is no remedy but prevention. Here are a few suggestions and methods to prevent and reduce cable water ingress.
1. The cable head shall be sealed with the sawn cable end. No matter it is stacked or laid, a special cable gland shall be used to prevent moisture infiltration.
2. The cable head shall be made in time after the wire is laid. Strengthen the management of cable head manufacturing process Once the cable enters the water, it is often the cable head that breaks down first. Therefore, if the wire head is made well, the overall life of the cable can be extended.
3. Several long cables in the cable branch box are used for long cables, each of which is about 3000 meters long. For such cables, in addition to making intermediate joints, one or two cable branch boxes are also used. Once one section of the cable enters the water, it will not spread to other sections of the cable.
