What is the difference between overhead line and cable route?

1. Different definitions Overhead lines: Overhead lines mainly refer to overhead open lines, erected above the ground, and are transmission lines that use insulators to fix transmission wires on poles and towers standing upright on the ground to transmit electric energy.  Cable route: An electrical signal transmission system composed of communication cables and their auxiliary equipment.  

2. Different characteristics Overhead lines: erection and maintenance are more convenient, the cost is low, but it is easily affected by meteorology and environment (such as strong winds, lightning strikes, pollution, ice and snow, etc.) and causes failures, and the entire transmission corridor occupies more land area, which is easy to cause electromagnetic interference to the surrounding environment.  Cable route: cable line has the advantages of long service life, large communication capacity, stable transmission quality, small external interference, good confidentiality performance, etc., so it occupies a major position in wired electrical communication lines.  

3. Different structure Overhead lines: wires, wires are components used to conduct current and transmit electric energy. 

Lightning protection wire, lightning protection wire is generally also made of steel core aluminum stranded wire, and is not insulated from the pole tower but directly erected at the top of the pole tower, and connected with the grounding device through the pole tower or grounding down conductor.  

Pole tower, pole tower is a general term for electric poles and iron towers. The purpose of the pole tower is to support the conductor and the lightning protection wire, so that a certain safety distance is maintained between the wire, between the conductor and the lightning protection wire, and between the wire and the ground and the cross span. Insulator, insulator is a kind of electrical insulation product, generally made of electrical ceramics, also known as porcelain bottle.  

Fittings, fittings in overhead power lines, are mainly used to support, fix and connect wires and insulators connected into strings, and also used to protect wires and insulators. 

The underground installation of the pole tower foundation and the overhead power line pole tower are collectively referred to as the foundation. 

Cable pulling, which is used to balance the lateral load and wire tension acting on the tower, can reduce the consumption of tower materials, and reduce the cost of the line. Grounding device, overhead ground wire above the wire, it will be connected to the earth through the grounding wire or grounding body of each base tower, when the lightning strikes the ground wire, the lightning current can be quickly diffused to the earth, therefore, the grounding device of the transmission line is mainly to discharge the lightning current, reduce the top potential of the pole tower, and protect the line insulation from breaking down the flashover.  

Cable route: cable route is composed of wire, insulation layer, cladding layer, etc.; Wire: single or multi-stranded wire for transmitting electrical energy, with copper or aluminum, usually with multiple strands; Insulating layer: so that the wire and the wire, the wire and the cladding layer are insulated from each other, the insulation materials are rubber, asphalt, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, cotton, linen, silk, oil-impregnated paper and mineral oil, vegetable oil, etc., most of the current oil-impregnated paper;  

Envelope: protects the insulation layer and has the effect of preventing the spillage of insulating oil, which is divided into inner sheath and outer sheath; The cost of cable lines is higher than that of overhead lines, but they do not need to erect pole towers, occupy less land, reliable power supply, and are rarely damaged by external forces, which is safe for people.
